Description
The White Tree, is a hand printed reduction linocut in oil inks, on Fabriano Artistico paper.
Just off the Coast Road, south of the township of Darlington on Maria Island, a creek runs along the side of the track for a while. Tussock grass grows up to the edge of the creek, changing to bushland and then to mountains in the distance. Tree branches are scattered around as well as some old dead tree trunks still standing, with the newer generations of trees growing up around them. The contrast of the white trunk of one such old tree against the darker backdrop of the living forest behind, was the inspiration of this artwork.
