It was an overcast day on Maria Island when I walked through grassland cropped short by the wallabies, after soft drizzly rain overnight. Dew glittered all over the ground which, upon a closer look, was diverse with many different plant species.
Up close, clusters of individual dew drops were suspended on the spiky foliage of the Native Cranberry.
This artwork is a departure from my usual sweeping landscapes, however I see it as a mini-landscape – a forest in miniature. While the focus is on the foreground of water drops and spikes, the image does recede into a less-defined background – especially towards the top right.
