Awards and Reviews

  • The works are breathtaking in the sense of their imagery – James really manages to capture the ephemeral, light essence of vast spaces of air and the slow rolling of bodies of water.

Review of Sally James solo exhibition: ‘Colours of Nature’

Awards and Reviews

I regularly take part in art competitions and group exhibitions, because it gets my work physically out there to be viewed in person. Digital images viewed on screens never have the impact of seeing the original artwork at full size, with its subtle textures and gloss of the oil-based medium. It’s also a great way to meet other artists and art enthusiasts! I have so far had three solo exhibitions:

  • 2024: ‘Sally James’, Colville Gallery, Salamanca, Hobart
  • 2023: ‘Colours of Nature’, Colville Gallery, Salamanca, Hobart
  • 2022: ‘Water and Sky’, Schoolhouse Gallery, Rosny Farm Arts Centre

Solo Exhibition, ‘Colours of Nature’

  • The works are breathtaking in the sense of their imagery – James really manages to capture the ephemeral, light essence of vast spaces of air and the slow rolling of bodies of water.
