Glacier Rock

Glacier Rock is one of the most prominent landmarks around the edge of Dove Lake in Cradle Mountain national park, Tasmania, Australia. On this rainy morning it shone bright against its backdrop of highland foliage and mountain ranges. The foliage had a subtle clean intensity of colour which made the soft reds and oranges almost glow against the fresh greens. Behind Glacier rock, row after row of mountain ranges receded into the distance becoming increasingly veiled in mist and cloud, until it was hard to tell where the mountain ended and the sky began. I used dilution and subtle gradients to create the effect of mountains receding into the distance, and to depict the soft misty landscape after rain.
