One of the most notable landmarks on the walk around Dove Lake in the magnificent Cradle Mountain National Park is Glacier Rock: a giant rock originally placed on the lake edge by a melting glacier. A small side path takes you up to a lookout area on top, where you can see across the water to Cradle Mountain.
You can also look downwards to see the delicate alpine plants growing through clefts in the quartz-glittered rock surface. Further down the tops of small trees growing at the water level are visible – all this is silhouetted against the gentle wavelets of the lake surface.
