Russell Falls is one of the best known temperate rainforest waterfalls in Tasmania, and can be easily reached from the visitors’ centre of the Mount Field national park. Visitors follow a short, moss-covered track through towering rainforest trees, that opens out at the base of the cascading tiers of Russell falls.
A key challenge for this artwork was to convey a sense of dynamic motion and downward flow in the water using the dominant white areas of pattern. These patterns depict how both the path and speed of the water is dictated by the rock forms, and the force of gravity that propels it.
